If your Prime Visa recently started earning 3% instead of 5% at Amazon.com, Whole Foods Market, and Chase Travel, something changed your eligibility. The most common cause is a lapsed or changed Prime membership. You can check your card’s reward rate in your Amazon account and fix most issues without calling support.

Check your current 5% status

1
Sign in to Amazon.com and go to Your Account.
2
Select Your Payments.
3
Find your Prime Visa and expand the card details to see the current rewards rate.

Common causes and fixes

If your Prime membership expired or was canceled, the card reverts to 3%. Restart an eligible Prime membership (annual, monthly, Prime Student, or trial) to restore 5%. Note: Prime Video-only subscriptions do not qualify.
If the Prime Visa was removed from Your Payments, rewards drop to 3%. Re-add the card to your Amazon Wallet.
Only one Prime Visa per Amazon account can earn 5%. If you added a different Prime Visa, the original card drops to 3%. Remove the extra card or keep the one you want at 5%.
Closing your Amazon account or leaving an Amazon Household with an eligible Prime member can remove 5% eligibility. Rejoin the Household or restart eligible Prime on the account.
Opening a second Prime Visa with the same Amazon account can cause the first card to drop to 3%. Decide which card you want at 5% and manage the others accordingly.
Eligible memberships include annual Prime, monthly Prime, Prime Student, Amazon Household members, and qualifying trials. Prime Video-only subscriptions are not eligible.
Only one Prime Visa can earn 5% per Amazon account. If you have multiple Prime Visas, the others will earn 3% at Amazon, Whole Foods, and Chase Travel.

If the rate is still wrong

If you checked the causes above and your card still shows 3% while you have an active eligible Prime membership, contact Chase using the number on the back of your card or sign in at chase.com/amazon to send a secure message.
